Rafay, Taimur power KG to emphatic victory

KARACHI: Left-arm spinner Rafay Safdar and opener Taimur Sultan powered hosts Karachi Gymkhana to an emphatic seven-wicket victory over Meteen Enterprises in their Group C encounter of Karachi Gymkhana Ramazan Twenty20 here at the KG Cricket Ground on Thursday.The KG spin trio of Rafay Safdar (4-28), Farhat Arif (2-9) and Haider Ali (2-20) sent Mateen Enterprises crashing to 111 all out in 17.1 overs. Mateen Enterprises were 75 for two at one stage. The only resistance was offered by opener Muhammad Waheed, who smashed six sixes and one four in his 63 off 48 balls.Gymkhana openers Taimur (66 off 43 balls) and Taha Zindani (33 off 31 balls) scored 106 for the first wicket to make it a one-sided affair. Both of them perished in quick succession but the target was achieved in 13.4 overs with Rafay bagging the Man of the Match award.
